Five completed buildings. A sixth in progress.

Engineering challenge
The architecture defined the appearance, but not how to build it.
The concept defined the shape and custom perforation of the infill panels, but did not provide a complete technical solution. Silma developed the supporting structure, panel-manufacturing method, fixings and installation sequence through several design iterations before production.
The system needed to satisfy safety requirements, retain the intended appearance and remain commercially efficient across a large number of repeatable components.

Delivery process
Durable materials and installation coordinated with construction.
Supporting structure
Welded AISI 304 stainless-steel sections with wall thicknesses of 1.5–2 mm.
Infill panels
2 mm aluminium sheet with custom perforation, powder coated in three semi-matt colours.
First installation stage
Supporting structures installed before facade completion to maintain the construction sequence.
Second installation stage
Infill panels fitted after facade work to reduce the risk of damage and contamination.
Outcome
One repeatable system for the entire development.
The developed solution combined controlled cost, robust installation and consistent application across successive buildings.
Silma carried out site measurement, provided technical support and resolved issues that were not visible in the architectural documentation. Further stages were awarded following completion of earlier buildings.
